Beautiful kitchen jar made of hand-painted and glazed terracotta. Terracotta, a natural and breathable material, helps keep food dry while preserving its freshness. Perfect for storing spices, coffee, or cookies.

Carefully handcrafted on a potter’s wheel and meticulously hand-painted, this jar is truly one-of-a-kind, with slight variations that reflect its artisanal nature.

Made entirely by hand in a century-old workshop using local clay from the Alentejo region and natural pigments, this piece is both ethical and environmentally friendly.

When you choose a piece from this remarkable collection, you’ll own a red clay object shaped by the hands of José Alves, one of the last remaining potters still mastering the art of the wheel.

This family pottery workshop, which traces its roots back to José’s great-great-grandfather, remains in the same location. "I thought the future of our workshop was uncertain, but one of my daughters came to help and brought a fresh touch with her artistic painting on the pieces," he says emotionally.

Red clay, known locally as "Olaria de barro vermelho," is especially suited for making functional tableware and is ideal for cooking hearty stews: "In a terracotta pot, meat becomes incredibly tender," José Alves says with a smile, reflecting both his expertise and love for the craft.
