This piece comes from a small workshop located in the west-central region of Portugal, in the province of Estremadura. Its design is typical of what is known as Caldas da Rainha ceramics, a tradition most famously represented by Bordallo Pinheiro.
The molds used in this workshop have been passed down from generation to generation, and the current owner still works with those inherited from his grandfather. Every piece is carefully handcrafted, and production is very limited.
